AVM launches a new router, the FRITZ!Box 4690, which supports Wi-Fi 7 and 10 Gigabit LAN for fast fiber optic connections.
AVM has launched the FRITZ!Box 4690, a new router suitable for fiber optic connections up to 10 Gbps and offering support for Wi-Fi 7. The device is now available at a recommended retail price of 319 euros including VAT.
Wireless and wired
The FRITZ!Box 4690 is designed to work in combination with a fiber optic modem, DSL or cable modem, or an existing router. Via Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6, the device delivers combined wireless speeds up to 6.9 Gbps. Additionally, the router features one 10 Gbps WAN port, one 10 Gbps LAN port, and three extra 2.5 Gbps LAN ports for wired network equipment.

The router also supports Mesh Wi-Fi and VPN via WireGuard. Users can easily integrate devices such as printers or network storage via the built-in USB 3.0 port. Furthermore, there is a DECT base station present, allowing up to six phones to be connected and various smart home devices to be controlled via the FRITZ!OS interface or associated apps.
Application
The installation is done through the web interface or via the MyFRITZ!App. After connecting to a modem, the device distributes the internet via Wi-Fi or wired connections. Thanks to the combination of fast network specifications and smart home support, the device is suitable for data-intensive applications such as gaming, video calling, or virtual reality.
The FRITZ!Box 4690 replaces older models in the FRITZ!Box 4000 series and includes all the functionalities that users of the AVM product line are accustomed to, such as parental controls, a media server, network storage, and Wi-Fi guest access.
