Ventiva, a leading thermal solutions company, is launching a fanless cooling solution for laptops up to 40 watts.
More efficient cooling is relevant for many tech companies, and for devices as well as servers. Ventiva has launched a fanless cooling solution for laptops up to 40 watts. The new technology, called ICE9, should be completely silent and operate without moving parts.
Electric field
ICE9 uses the company’s Ionic Cooling Engine, as it is said to be more efficient than its predecessor. This system uses an electric field to move air, eliminating moving parts, noise and vibration. It allows manufacturers to design powerful and thin laptops of less than 12 mm without mechanical fans.
ICE9 technology is now available for laptops up to 25 watts TDP. For laptops up to 40 watts TDP, Ventiva is working with partners to bring this technology to market in 2027. The company also plans to target other devices such as smartphones and tablets. The only drawback is the low static pressure. That causes companies to have to opt for a hybrid solution or a specially designed enclosure so that ICE9 can cool effectively.
