According to a report by TrendForce, Nvidia may have to postpone its volume increase of Blackwell machines.
Nvidia may have to delay volume increases of next-generation AI servers based on B200 and GB200 platforms due to overheating, power consumption and the need to optimize interconnection. “Consequently, TrendForce predicts that mass production and peak shipments are unlikely to occur between Q2 and Q3 of 2025,” TrendForce’s report stated. Nvidia has not yet commented on the claims made in this report.

Delay volume increase
Blackwell proved to be a difficult delivery for Nvidia for some time. The Blackwell B200 accelerators were already announced as the most powerful of its kind that will train large AI models. Just recently, refined versions of the Nvidia B200 processors went into mass production, although according to TrendForce, this will not mean that the advance of Blackwell-based servers will increase immediately.

According to the report, mass production and peak shipments of Blackwell machines will occur sometime in mid-2025, which is six months later than planned. This is due to overheating, power consumption as well as the need to optimize interconnection, according to the market research firm. Several months ago, it was revealed that an Nvidia NVL 72 rack based on the GB200 platform with 72 B200 GPUs would consume about 120 kW of power. Nvidia has not yet responded to the results of the report.
