Snowflake is rebranding its key AI solutions. Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Code are being replaced by CoWork and CoCo.
Snowflake is using its Snowflake Summit in San Francisco to implement a major name change in its AI portfolio. Snowflake Intelligence becomes Snowflake CoWork and Snowflake Cortex Code becomes Snowflake CoCo.
From unofficial to official
The latter product is the catalyst for the name change, which according to EVP of Product Christian Kleinerman was not prompted by a eureka moment within the marketing department. “Since we introduced Cortex Code, many of our customers started using the CoCo label themselves,” he explains. “We believe CoCo is a stronger and more fun brand, so we are officially embracing it.”
Snowflake decided to continue this trend. The name change from Snowflake Intelligence to Snowflake CoWork ensures that the product aligns more closely with the CoCo brand.
For developers and knowledge workers
Although both CoCo and CoWork provide AI assistance to users, they are two very different products. CoCo is a coding assistant. This tool is aimed at application developers. The solution helps build applications and automate workflows.
CoWork is a broader personal AI assistant aimed at knowledge workers. This AI tool helps everyone extract insights from the data in Snowflake. “We saw this solution from the start more as the next generation of BI, but it helps organizations do much more than that,” says Kleinerman. Users interact with CoWork for those insights, while developers use CoCo to write code and build applications.
Together, they represent two aspects of Snowflake’s AI strategy. On one hand, the company wants to make it easier for specialists to derive value from data with applications, while on the other hand, it aims to unlock data in an accessible way for everyone (with the appropriate access rights).
