OVHcloud is launching a new Backup Agent for Bare Metal customers in collaboration with Veeam, offering encrypted and immutable backups via a managed service with no licensing fees.
OVHcloud launches a new Backup Agent for Bare Metal customers. Developed in collaboration with Veeam, the solution aims to provide customers with additional data protection through a managed backup solution.
The Backup Agent is available to all OVHcloud Bare Metal customers. The service uses Veeam technology and is directly accessible via the OVHcloud control panel or API. Users can set up the agent in under ten minutes. Backups are stored in geographically separate locations, independent of the physical Bare Metal server.

The data is encrypted and immune to modification, enhancing security. Storage occurs on OVHcloud’s Object Storage with 99.9 percent availability within a single availability zone (1-AZ). The solution is designed to improve customers’ data availability and security.
No license fees
Pricing starts from 0.007 euros per gigabyte per month, excluding VAT. OCH claims that this price is about six times lower than the average offering from competitors. There are no licensing fees associated with using the software agent. OVH also does not charge extra for restoring backups.
New features will be added in the coming months, including a system that allows AI agents to query consumption and billing data via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
The Backup Agent is now available in all OVHcloud’s European data centers. An expansion to regions in the APAC zone and Canada is planned for the first quarter of this year.
