GPT-5.2 now generally available in GitHub Copilot

OpenAI’s GPT-5.2 has been made available in GitHub Copilot.

Microsoft and GitHub have made OpenAI’s GPT-5.2 generally available for Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+.

Broad availability

The latest model can now be used in almost all Copilot environments, including GitHub Copilot Chat on github.com, GitHub Mobile, and popular development environments such as Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse.

Users can select GPT-5.2 via the model selector in Copilot Chat, where it is available in agent, ask, and edit modes. If you don’t see the model yet, please wait until the rollout is complete.

Administrators determine access

For companies with Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise, only the administrator can activate GPT-5.2. They must enable GPT-5.2 via a new policy setting in the Copilot settings. Only then will the model automatically appear for all users within the organization, in all supported IDEs.

For individual users with Copilot Pro or Pro+, activation is easier. They can select GPT-5.2 themselves in the model selector and give a one-time confirmation to activate the model.

In June of this year, monthly limits were imposed on GitHub Copilot users. Depending on which subscription you choose, Copilot can perform more tasks. To exceed those limits, an additional fee must be paid.
