Google is launching a migration tool that allows admins to easily transfer users’ files within the organization from OneDrive.
Switching cloud environments often involves a lot of hassle to get all the files transferred correctly. Google is making it easier for organizations crossing over from Microsoft, the company writes in a blog. Workspace will feature a new migration tool for admins to transfer files from OneDrive to the Google cloud.

Google simplifies switch from OneDrive
To do this, you first connect via Google Workspace to the Microsoft OneDrive account from which the files are to be transferred. Next, you set the email addresses of the users you want to migrate. Finally, the admin creates an “identity card” to connect users on the source account with users on the appropriate target account.
Only users with superadmin privileges will be able to perform this operation. With the migration tool, up to one hundred users can be transferred at the same time. The migration includes not only files and folders, but also access rights to shared folders.
Google is rolling out the OneDrive migration tool to all business (and paying) Workspace users in the coming weeks. By early November, the tool should be available to everyone.
