Google unveils AI reasoning model that shows ‘thoughts’ when searching for answers

Google proposes a new AI model that “represents its thoughts explicitly” when searching for answers.

Google’s new Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking AI model can answer complex questions while providing an overview of its “thoughts.” It is about an experimental model that will likely compete with OpenAI’s reasoning model, The Verge knows.

Think, think, think

Jeff Dean, chief scientist at Google DeepMind, gives an example on his X account. The model is “trained to use thoughts to reinforce its reasoning,” and benefits from the speed of the faster Gemini Flash 2.0 model. In the example, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking solves a physics problem by “thinking.”

The model breaks down instructions into smaller tasks, so it doesn’t really think as we do. Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking can be tested by anyone on Google’s AI Studio. There have been quite a few developments in the AI world lately. Microsoft’ s new AI tool turns data into insights, Google introduces us to Agentspace and OpenAI unleashed video generator Sora on the world (except Europe).
