Google Cloud Gets New AI Capabilities for Data Scientists and Doctors

Google Cloud

Google Cloud further expands its AI capabilities with new tools for data scientists and medical professionals.

Google Colab, an environment in Google Cloud to write and execute Python code, receives a Data Science Agent for faster data analysis, while Vertex AI Search in healthcare adds multimodal search capabilities.

Data Science Agent Accelerates Data Analysis

Google Labs launches the Data Science Agent in Google Colab, a Gemini-based AI assistant that automates time-consuming tasks such as importing libraries, loading data, and writing code. Users can describe in natural language which analysis they want to perform, after which the AI generates a fully functional Colab notebook.

According to Google Labs, the AI shortens the analysis process. A data scientist found that he could reduce nearly a week’s work to five minutes when researching methane emissions in tropical wetlands.

Multimodal AI Search Function for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals

For the medical sector, Google Cloud adds a visual question-and-answer function to Vertex AI Search for healthcare. The tech giant writes this in a blog. This update makes it possible to search through tables, graphs, and medical images and ask questions about them directly.

Health data is often complex, and 90 percent of medical data consists of images such as X-rays and scans. The AI combines this visual data with text from patient records for a more accurate overview of the health condition. This helps doctors with diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.

Lately, more and more Google services are receiving AI support. For example, Google Workspace was provided with thematic feature drops and the AI research tool Deep Research.
