Google announces via a post on X that it is making its Gemini model based on Imagen 3 available for free to everyone worldwide. The only requirement is that you have a Google account. Free users just can’t enjoy all the features. To generate people’s images, they will have to switch to a paid subscription.
Imagen 3
According to Google, Imagen 3 offers the highest quality of image generation, with “realistic images, instructional tracking and fewer distracting artifacts. Imagen 3 was announced during Google’s previous I/O event. First, the model was made available via a waiting list, then users in the U.S. were able to sample it. Now Google announces that the model is available through Gemini for all Google users worldwide.
Imagen 3 is available through both Gemini’s app and browser version. It is important to note that free users cannot generate images of people, this feature is only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. This subscription amounts to 22 euros per month.
In addition, there was much controversy over Gemini’s feature for generating images of people. Google would produce images of people that were not historically accurate. This incident dates back to February, but Google announced in late August that it would fix the feature.
