OpenAI tests a new feature that lets you choose how ChatGPT behaves.
ChatGPT will soon have a touch of personality. OpenAI is rolling out a new feature that allows users to set the tone of the chatbot. The update is currently in a testing phase but is gradually being rolled out worldwide.
From Warm to Sarcastic
By default, ChatGPT is friendly and accommodating, sometimes to the point of being annoying. Those who prefer a chatbot without compliments can soon choose from five other personalities. There’s “Cynic,” a critical and sarcastic version for those who don’t like excessive friendliness. “Robot” is efficient and blunt, without detours or frills. Those who prefer a listening ear can turn to “Listener,” a thoughtful and supportive chatbot. Finally, “Sage” is eager to learn and enthusiastic.
Personal Preference
You can set your preference via the web version of ChatGPT. Click on your profile and choose “Customize ChatGPT.” There, you can not only choose the personality but also adjust other behavior options such as the tone in which ChatGPT responds or how you prefer to be addressed. The feature is still being rolled out and may not be visible to everyone yet.
That is not the only “major” change ChatGPT is getting. Soon, ChatGPT-5 will be released, combining frequently used models into one overarching model. This should make it easier for users as they no longer have to choose between different versions to perform their tasks.
