Zscaler Expands Platform with AI Lifecycle Security through SPLX Acquisition

Zscaler

Zscaler is expanding its Zero Trust Exchange platform with AI security technology from SPLX, focusing on asset discovery, red teaming, and governance.

Zscaler is set to acquire SPLX, a company specializing in AI application security. With this acquisition, Zscaler adds new features to its Zero Trust Exchange platform to better detect AI assets, automatically test for vulnerabilities, and manage them in compliance with policies. The aim is to better support organizations in protecting their AI investments, from development to deployment.

AI Chain

SPLX’s technology is expected to enable Zscaler to integrate an additional security layer into its platform. This new layer specifically targets securing AI assets in both public and private environments. Specifically, this includes detecting AI models, code repositories, and Model Context Protocol servers (MCPs), which are increasingly common in AI workflows and, according to Zscaler, pose a growing source of risks.

Another addition is the capability for automated ‘AI red teaming’, allowing organizations to test their AI environments for vulnerabilities using more than 5,000 custom-developed simulated attacks. The solution immediately proposes fixes if issues are found.

Additionally, the existing system for ‘AI Runtime Guardrails‘ is expanded with functionality to better protect sensitive data and block attacks between AI applications and large language models.

Proactive AI Governance

Finally, the acquisition of SPLX brings support for governance and compliance within an AI context. This aims to help Zscaler assist companies in proactively mitigating risks. The new capabilities are designed to help companies comply with current and future regulations regarding AI use.

The integration of SPLX is expected to enable Zscaler to address these challenges within a single platform. The amount Zscaler is paying for the acquisition has not been disclosed.
