Timefold has raised $13 million in a Series A funding round. The Ghent-based company intends to use this investment to roll out its AI-driven planning platform internationally and help companies automate complex operational schedules.
Ghent-based software company Timefold raises $13 million in a Series A funding round led by Alstin Capital, with Kompas VC as co-investigator. Existing shareholders Lakestar and Smartfin participated once again. The company develops APIs that allow software teams to easily integrate enterprise planning optimization into their solutions. With the new funding, Timefold aims to further develop the platform and expand internationally.
Deterministic approach
“As software becomes increasingly autonomous, optimization becomes fundamental infrastructure,” says Maarten Vandenbroucke, CEO of Timefold. The rise of AI agents offers new possibilities for autonomous software behavior, but LLM-generated schedules often fall short due to their probabilistic nature.
Timefold offers an AI-driven solution based on deterministic algorithms that solves large-scale planning problems and automates reliable decisions. This allows companies to, among other things, deploy technicians efficiently, respond to unexpected absences, and create fairly staffed shift rosters.
With the new investment, Timefold primarily aims to strengthen its presence in the United States and capitalize on the growing demand for planning optimization.
