Telenet experienced a brief outage on Monday afternoon where customers were directed to another customer’s account after logging in. The problem has since been resolved.

Telenet customers who tried to log in to their accounts on Monday afternoon briefly ended up on another customer’s account, reports VRT NWS. There, they could view the other customer’s account details. It is not yet clear what caused this glitch, but the problem has been resolved. “We are investigating the exact cause and the impact of the technical glitch,” says Telenet.

Mixed-up accounts

Telenet customers who logged in to their accounts on Monday, March 16, unexpectedly ended up on another customer’s account. There, they could simply view all the account details.

Customers were able to view, among other things, the customer number, email address, and personal details of another customer. “The technical glitch lasted at most 20 minutes and was fully resolved by 1:30 PM,” Telenet stated. “The glitch had little impact and was immediately noticed internally by us.”

The telecom operator emphasizes that customers could not make any changes to the other customer’s account. The cause of the glitch is being investigated.

It was a day full of outages for several telecom operators. Proximus also struggled with a major outage that caused significant disruption. Those problems have since been cleared up.
