Salesforce reopens talks with AI company Informatica and an agreement could be reached quickly. It could be one of the largest acquisitions by Salesforce.
Salesforce is making a new attempt to acquire Informatica, writes the Wall Street Journal. Both companies have been linked to each other for a while. A month ago, the acquisition seemed to fall through, but Salesforce hasn’t given up yet. The Wall Street Journal expects that an agreement could be reached in the coming days.
The exact amount Salesforce will pay is unknown. Informatica’s market value had dropped below seven billion dollars, but the news that talks with Salesforce have resumed has not fallen on deaf ears among investors. The company’s value has climbed back to $22.45 per share.
Claire
What attracts Salesforce to Informatica can be summed up in two letters: AI. Almost everything Salesforce does is related to AI. Informatica developed its own AI assistant called Claire that helps companies transfer data between cloud and on-site systems. Big names like Unilever and Toyota use it, and the company also shares customers with Salesforce.

There might still be other suitors on the horizon. According to sources, Cloud Software Group, formed from a merger between Citrix and Tibco Software, is also vying for Informatica. The Wall Street Journal is optimistic about the chances of reaching an agreement with Salesforce, but there is still no certainty that the deal will be finalized this time.
If it happens, Informatica will join the ranks of Slack, Tableau, Mulesoft, and other companies that have recently joined the Salesforce family. According to the Wall Street Journal, the acquisition of Informatica would be Salesforce’s largest takeover deal since it put $28 billion on the table for Slack in 2021. The previous record holder was Tableau at $15.7 billion.
