“Nvidia and Broadcom Test Chips on Intel Production Process”

Reportedly, Nvidia and Broadcom have conducted two production tests with Intel.

Two sources have informed Reuters that Nvidia and Broadcom are testing Intel’s production techniques. The two tests carried out indicate that the decision to offer Intel a multi-million dollar contract could follow quickly.

The tests focus on specific components to properly evaluate the 18a production process. It’s unclear when they started and how long they will last. This process can be used to create intelligence processors and other complex chips. It competes with a similar technique from TSMC, the global leader in the chip market, which would like to take over Intel’s factories.

The behavior and capabilities of the production process are determined in these tests, but they do not guarantee that a deal will be struck with Intel. Last year, an earlier Broadcom test showed that the company was not satisfied with the results, although it continues to evaluate Intel. AMD is also said to be considering working with Intel, but it’s unclear if it has submitted test chips yet.

The chip giant has been struggling for a while. Last year, CEO Pat Gelsinger abruptly retired and the production of new chips experienced significant delays. With a loss of 19 billion dollars, there’s a high chance that these delays will continue to increase. Both Nvidia and Broadcom declined to comment to Reuters.
