The two companies have signed an agreement. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, will purchase Wiz for $32 billion.

Google has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the New York-based cloud security platform for $32 billion. This acquisition will contribute to strengthening Google Cloud’s security capabilities and supporting multi-cloud environments.

Wiz Acquisition Strengthens Security Within Google Cloud

Google has been eyeing cloud security platform Wiz for a while. In June last year, Google wanted to put down 23 billion, but Wiz refused because “cloud security would become bigger”. Today, Google entered into discussions again with Wiz, and that has borne fruit.

The acquisition, which is still subject to approvals, will further expand Google Cloud’s security capabilities, especially in view of the growing demand for better cloud security and the adoption of multiple cloud environments.

Wiz offers a security platform that connects to major cloud environments and code environments to prevent cybersecurity incidents. The platform is already used by a wide range of organizations, from small businesses to large enterprises and government institutions. Through this acquisition, Google Cloud hopes to strengthen customer protection, especially given the increasing risks due to the rise of AI.

Accelerated Innovation in Multi-Cloud Security

The collaboration between Google Cloud and Wiz will contribute to further automation and scalability of security for organizations. Customers will benefit from an end-to-end security platform that both reduces costs and simplifies the implementation and management of security measures. The acquisition is also expected to promote the adoption of multi-cloud solutions, giving customers more flexibility in using different cloud platforms.

Wiz’s products will remain available for all major cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Google Cloud will continue to work with partners to offer a wide range of security solutions through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
