Google must pay 76 million euros to Proxistore

The court has ruled that Google must pay 76 million euros to Proxistore. The internet giant is appealing this decision.

The Commercial Court of Nivelles has confirmed. Google must pay 76 million euros to the Belgian start-up Proxistore, despite the internet giant’s filed opposition, as revealed in the verdict that Belga was able to review. Google is appealing this decision.

Blocked campaigns

Earlier this year, Google was ordered to pay 76 million euros to Proxistore. This was because Google “unilaterally and without reason” blocked Proxistore’s advertising campaigns. Consequently, the Commercial Court of Walloon Brabant decided that Google owed the amount of 76 million. The court ordered a seizure of that amount from Google’s Irish bank account.

Unfounded opposition

Now it seems that progress is being made in the case. During the hearing before the Commercial Court of Nivelles, the judge ruled that Google’s opposition is unfounded. Google now announces that it is appealing this decision.

Proxistore emphasizes that it will take the necessary steps to ensure the payment is effectively carried out.
