F5 Strengthens AI Security with Acquisition of CalypsoAI

F5 Networks

F5 acquires CalypsoAI for $180 million. Thanks to the integration, F5 can offer “proactive and continuous AI security for every model”.

The American technology company F5 Inc. acquires the Irish CalypsoAI for $180 million. With this, it gains “a pioneer in the field of AI security” according to the announcement. CalypsoAI was founded in 2018 and managed to raise $43.2 million from investors.

Fourth Acquisition in 2025

It’s already F5’s fourth deal this year, following the acquisitions of MantisNet, Fletch, and LeakSignal. With CalypsoAI, F5 aims to expand its Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) with features such as red teaming, data security, observation, and protection against AI-specific threats like prompt injection. According to F5’s Chief Product Officer John Maddison in SiliconANGLE, the acquisition positions F5 “as a leading player in the AI security market.”

CalypsoAI is particularly known for its red teaming technique, where AI agents generate thousands of new attack patterns monthly. Additionally, the company scored better than competitors in protecting inference models, which are often a less secure component of AI systems.

New Assets for Customers

Through the integration, customers will receive real-time protection against data leaks, automated vulnerability testing, and a Leaderboard that assesses AI models for security. Talent also plays a role: two-thirds of Calypso’s staff are AI engineers, a welcome addition to F5’s European hub in Ireland.

With this acquisition, F5 aims to be seen not only as an application provider but also as a full-fledged security provider. The AI security market is growing rapidly, and F5 hopes to make a strong impression with CalypsoAI.
