Bitwarden adds extra security features to its Premium and Families plans, and increases the prices of both subscriptions.
Password manager Bitwarden has expanded its Premium and Families subscriptions with new password and account security features. The update adds, among other things, warnings about weak or reused passwords and introduces password coaching in the vault. At the same time, the company is increasing the price of both subscriptions. The free offer remains.
Price change
Bitwarden is increasing the price of its Premium subscription for individual users to $1.65 per month with annual billing, or $19.80 per year. The Families subscription will now cost $3.99 per month with annual billing, or $47.88 per year for up to six users.
Prices for Belgium are also rising. These amount to an increase of 1.41 euros per month (Premium) and 3.40 euros per month (Families), according to the current exchange rate.
The free offer remains, with basic password and passkey management on unlimited devices, a separate authenticator app, and the ability to share passwords with two people via an organization.
New features
At the same time, Bitwarden is launching some new security features. Bitwarden is bringing “vault health warnings” to Premium and Families. These should help users detect risks, such as weak, exposed, or reused passwords. The company also links “password coaching” to this. With this, Bitwarden marks passwords that it considers risky in the place where a user opens them, with the intention of being able to replace them more quickly.

Furthermore, Bitwarden is increasing the storage space for attachments in the vault. According to the company, this involves five times more space for attachments. The number of permitted security keys for two-factor authentication is also doubling. Subscribers can now use up to ten security keys, including hardware keys and passkeys.
The new features are immediately available to Premium and Families subscribers. Existing subscribers will receive a notification fifteen days before the next renewal.
