Beltug charted business ICT trends with its biennial survey.
Beltug ‘s biannual ICT survey shows that Belgian companies are adjusting their IT strategy in response to economic uncertainty, stricter regulations and the growing threat of cybercrime. The survey, conducted by Profacts among 1,150 IT decision-makers, charts changing priorities.
More AI, less IT staff
The survey shows that companies are increasingly taking a critical look at their cloud strategy. The “cloud first” approach is giving way to a strategy in which hybrid and private cloud models are important. Large enterprises in particular are actively taking measures to maintain control over their cloud environment, while smaller companies are more often relying on external IT partners.
In addition, the use of AI is rising significantly. 51 percent of large companies are integrating AI into their processes, doubling compared to 2023. Yet generative AI remains largely untapped: 60 percent of those surveyed are not yet deploying this technology.
Despite economic uncertainty, IT remains an investment priority. 40 percent of companies expect an increase in IT budgets in 2025, especially for cybersecurity, software and cloud. At the same time, there is less investment in IT staff, increasing pressure on existing teams.
Beltug warns that companies face new risks from these shifts and calls for clear guidelines around regulation and cybersecurity.
