Apple’s mixed-reality glasses will allow you to play games, watch videos and interact with others. Walking into the metaverse through the glasses is not Apple’s ambition.

Although the name change suggests otherwise, Metaversum is not just Meta’s. Multiple companies are working on, researching or investing in the digitally shared space. However, it does make clear the ambition of Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO: to own the metaverse.
At least at Apple, no one is already lying awake about that ambition. According to Mark Gurman, a journalist at Bloomberg with a specialization in Apple, Apple has completely renounced the metaverse.
Mixed-reality glasses
There have been whispers for some time that Apple is working on mixed-reality glasses. That idea is still around. Late last year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also seemed to confirm the rumors and release some details of the glasses. Apple’s first glasses are expected on the market by the end of this year.
When the glasses launch, Apple will take a very different approach to mixed-reality. The metaverse will be rejected and the focus will be on gaming and watching videos or series.
