Anthropic Invests 50 Billion Dollars in American AI Data Centers

Anthropic announces a 50 billion dollar investment for the construction of AI data centers in America.

Anthropic invests 50 billion dollars in the construction of data centers in Texas and New York. This investment is made in collaboration with Fluidstack, a British company specializing in infrastructure for AI workloads. The infrastructure is specifically designed to support Anthropic’s AI models, including Claude. Further expansions at other locations are planned.

Operational in 2026

The new facilities will be operational from 2026. In total, the project will create approximately 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 temporary construction jobs. According to Anthropic, the infrastructure is custom-built to handle intensive AI workloads.

Fluidstack will be responsible for the construction and provision of the necessary energy capacity. According to co-founder Gary Wu, Fluidstack is “built for this moment” and ready to support infrastructure for AI companies like Anthropic.

Growth Spurt for Claude

Anthropic states that the investment aligns with broader American ambitions to strengthen local technology infrastructure. The company refers to the federal government’s AI action plan. CEO Dario Amodei says the new data centers are needed to develop AI systems that can contribute to scientific breakthroughs.

The company further emphasizes its focus on safety, interpretability, and alignment of AI systems. According to Anthropic, there are currently more than 300,000 business customers using Claude. The number of customers spending more than 100,000 dollars annually on using Claude has nearly septupled over the past year.

Anthropic claims to continue focusing on cost-effective scaling, despite the size of the investment. Further expansions of the infrastructure are not ruled out.
