‘Acquisition of Lepton AI by Nvidia is Almost Finalized’

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

Nvidia wants to acquire Lepton AI, and the acquisition talks are reportedly in an advanced stage.

Nvidia is reportedly in final discussions to acquire Lepton AI, a young cloud startup specializing in cloud infrastructure for AI training. According to The Information, the deal could be worth several hundred million dollars.

AI Infrastructure with Well-Known Names

Lepton AI’s platform rents out servers that use AI chips from Nvidia. Thanks to these servers, companies can train and deploy AI models, with advanced features such as error detection, memory optimization, and auto-scaling for inference. The company promises processing speeds of over 600 tokens per second and latency of less than 10 milliseconds.

Lepton AI provides a visual interface for setting up training clusters in its cloud environment. Customers can choose between different Nvidia GPUs for this purpose. For teams training multiple models simultaneously, Lepton AI has a tool to oversee the hardware for each model.

Strategic Move or Competitive Conflict?

It’s still unclear whether Nvidia wants to integrate the technology or continue offering Lepton as an independent platform. Nvidia’s customers already offer similar services, such as CoreWeave. Earlier this week, it was also revealed that Nvidia is acquiring Gretel Labs, a startup that generates synthetic training data. Previously, Nvidia announced a collaboration with Lenovo around AI agents. It’s clear that the company is strongly focusing on the evolution of AI.
