Oppo is back in the European smartphone market. The Find X series makes its return to the premium segment with the Find X8 Pro.
The Oppo Find X series is back in Belgium. Due to patent issues with Nokia, it had been a while since Oppo launched another premium phone in Belgium and Europe. The focus has been more on the mid-range segment with recent launches . Oppo promised to bring back the Find X earlier this year, and with the Find X8 Pro it is fulfilling that promise.
In Europe, the Find X8 Pro is the direct successor to the Find X5 Pro that launched in 2022 and caught the eye of our editors. In between, a Find X6 and Find X7 appeared, but those devices never got on a boat to Belgium. The Oppo Find X8 consists of two devices, but only the Pro model will appear in Belgium.
Waterproof screen
The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a 6.78-inch screen with a slightly curved frame to improve grip. The device is dust and water resistant and should withstand a 30-minute dive to 1.5 meters deep and water jets up to 80°C. Splash Touch technology keeps the screen usable if a splash of water falls on it.
Oppo is going for “more screen and less bezel. The bezels around the screen are only 2 mm thick and the glass is quad curved. The Find X8 Pro can reach a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits, when playing HDR content even peaking at 4,500 nits, according to the manufacturer.
Old acquaintance
Oppo is once again sticking Hasselblad’s name on the Find X8 Pro. The partnership proved a success in the Find X5, which set a new benchmark for (night) photography two years ago. Since the Find X5, smartphone photography has evolved at a rapid pace, and Oppo wants to show that it is still with us.
The cameras are sorted into a distinctive ring. The smartphone has a quad 50MP camera setup, including a 135mm periscope camera (6x optical zoom) and a 23mm wide-angle sensor. To that, Oppo adds a brand new triple prism periscope camera with /1.95-inch Sony LYT600 sensor. With the help of AI, you can digitally zoom up to 60x.
Choice of MediaTek
Oppo makes a bold processor choice for the Find X8 Pro. Normally in this price range Qualcomm is the default option, but the Find X8 Pro comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. MediaTek wants to finally compete with the big boys with its latest flagship processor, and Oppo is giving the processor maker the confidence.
The Find X8 Pro is further equipped with a hefty 5910 mAh battery. Charging can be done at a capacity of 80 W, at least if you use a SuperVooc brand charger, not included with the device. With a thorny Power Delivery cable, you will be able to charge at 55 W. Wireless charging is supported up to 50 W.
ColorOS 15
The Oppo Find X8 it will also be the brand’s first device to ship with the ColorOS 15 operating system. This is Oppo’s interpretation of Android 15, and as is the norm these days, the device is packed with AI. From photo editing to message writing to the AI Link feature that improves your connectivity, there is an AI feature for everything you can do with a phone.
Oppo Find X8 Pro is available in Belgium in black at a suggested retail price of 1,149 euros for a memory configuration with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB ROM, including VAT.
