Dell is refreshing its workstation lineup with several large and small devices. The Precision brand continues its professional comeback.
On the sidelines of Nvidia’s GTC conference, Dell already brought back the Precision brand name for new PCs. In doing so, the manufacturer reversed a previous attempt at simplification that had gone so far that all devices in the portfolio suddenly had virtually the same name, resulting in confusion. The brand-new Dell Pro Precision family is now expanding with several new additions.
Dell Pro Precision 5S
First and foremost, Dell Technologies is launching the Dell Pro Precision 5S. This is an entry-level device in the workstation series. Dell targets engineers, designers, and editors, provided they stick to relatively light versions of their work.
Dell boasts that this laptop is very light for a workstation. The 14-inch device weighs 1.4 kg. You can configure the machine with up to 64 GB of RAM and processors from both Intel and AMD. Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and AMD Ryzen AI 400 are the chips of choice. The laptop is also available in a 16-inch variant.

The free choice of CPU is perhaps the most striking novelty of the Dell Pro Precision 5S, which at least spiritually succeeds the Dell Precision 5000. Historically, Dell has been a very loyal partner to Intel for such devices.

Furthermore, it is notable that Dell does not equip this workstation with a discrete GPU. You must therefore rely on the integrated Arc or Radeon graphics of the CPU. However, the more high-end versions of these are currently powerful enough to support light CAD work or video editing, provided the chassis is sufficiently cooled. The laptop should be available starting in May.
Dell Pro 5 Micro
Dell is also introducing a small desktop: the Dell Pro 5 Micro. This is a compact computer that can be configured exclusively with Intel chips. These include the Intel Core Ultra 7 366H or the Ultra 5 335. For RAM, Dell offers options with single and dual-channel configurations ranging from 16 GB to 64 GB.

Dell states that this small desktop will be available on March 31, but has not shared a starting price.
