Color Display

Amazon launches the Colorsoft in its new Kindle Scribe series, the first device in the series that can also write and draw in color. The new Colorsoft display technology ensures that colors are visible without the typical brightness of LCD screens. The color display supports ten pen colors and five highlighter colors, intended for users who take notes or create illustrations.

The devices use a new quad-core chip, have more memory, and use a customized Oxide display technology for faster interaction. The front lighting has been redesigned with more compact LEDs, making the screen narrower and brighter. The screen glass has also been adjusted to provide more friction when writing with a stylus, which should improve the writing feel.

AI and Integrations

The new Kindle Scribe devices also include new productivity features. Amazon introduces an AI-powered notebook that allows users to naturally search their notes. The software generates summaries and can answer follow-up questions. Additionally, there is support for cloud storage services like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, and notes can be exported to OneNote.

The devices retain their e-reader functionality. Through Kindle Unlimited, users have access to millions of books, comics, and magazines.

The new Kindle Scribe models will be available from the end of this year with prices starting at $429.99 for the base model. The color version, Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, costs $629.99. Currently, the three devices are only available in the US, and early next year in Germany. Whether and when the e-readers will come to Belgium is not yet known.
