Trello gets AI automation and Trello Planner for smart task management

Trello released several features this week, including integration with popular apps.

Every day your to-do list ticks up with new tasks: answering an email, giving feedback on a document, sharing something with the team, … Atlassian wants to make your work life more enjoyable and, above all, organized with Trello Inbox and Trello Planner.

Trello will have integration with Slack, email and Apple’s assistant Siri. Teams will be added later. That way, Trello Inbox should become a central hub to see info from different apps in one place. Thanks to AI automation, Trello picks up your to-do’s from those different apps. Each message in the inbox is automatically summarized in a card, including relevant end dates and subtasks.

In addition to the familiar sideboards, Trello now gets Trello Planner, a calendar where you can schedule tasks, emails and Slack messages. Everything you add in Trello automatically syncs with your calendar.

The goal of this update is to easily summarize action items and organize them conveniently with AI in Trello. “We don’t want to become an all-in-one project management tool,” Guarav Kataria, product manager at Trello, told The Verge. “We help users work more productively by collecting their action items in one place.”

The new features are in beta phase for now, and will be rolled out to all users in April.
