Payconiq App Receives an Upgrade before the Transition to Wero

Payconiq by Bancontact

Bancontact Payconiq Company has launched a renewed version of the Payconiq by Bancontact app. The update aims to improve user experience and prepare the app for a rebranding in 2026.

Although the brand Payconiq will no longer exist in 2026 and Wero will take over, Payconiq by Bancontact continues to focus on enhancing the app’s user experience. The current update brings visual and functional improvements, but the app’s key features remain intact. Users can still link multiple bank cards and choose which card to pay with.

The update occurs automatically for existing users. No action is required, and linked cards remain active. In the spring of 2026, the new name and visual identity of the app will be announced. Meanwhile, the app has more than two million users in Belgium.

Accessibility

The renewed app complies with European accessibility legislation (EAA) and is developed according to AA standards. Attention has been paid to better readability and easier navigation, even for users with visual impairments or color blindness.

The interface has been adjusted for quicker access to features such as scanning QR codes, making or receiving payments, adding loyalty cards, and creating group pots. Improved color contrasts are intended to further enhance the user experience.

Rise of Mobile Payment Methods

Bancontact Payconiq Company emphasizes its continued commitment to accessible digital payment solutions. In 2024, 55 percent of Belgians used a mobile payment method, compared to 42 percent in 2023.
