Microsoft 365 will receive security updates until 2028, but new features will cease as early as 2026 on Windows 10.

Microsoft is gradually announcing the end of Office for Windows 10 users. Starting August 2026, new features will be removed from Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and the business Current Channel. Monthly Enterprise users will lose features on October 13, 2026, and semi-annual users on January 12, 2027.

Security Only

Although Microsoft earlier this year changed course and promised to deliver security updates until October 2029, it now appears that functional innovation will indeed cease. Anyone who wants to continue using the latest features of Word, Excel, or Outlook must switch to Windows 11.

Microsoft thus wants users to switch to Windows 11, as official support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025. Nevertheless, the operating system is still running on millions of devices worldwide.

Free Extra Year with Windows Backup

Users can extend the lifespan of their Windows 10 system by one year, provided they enable Windows Backup. Microsoft then offers free additional security updates, but innovations remain exclusive to Windows 11. The pressure to migrate is thus gradually being increased.
