Microsoft is currently testing a new AI-powered feature for its Edge browser history that takes typos into account.
The new feature “improved search” is an AI-powered function that preserves your browser history in Edge, considering synonyms, phrases, or typos. This way, users can more easily find previously visited websites. Microsoft has started testing the optional feature, which appeared last week in the beta version of Microsoft Edge.

The model is trained based on your data. Microsoft emphasizes that this data never leaves your device and is not sent to Microsoft. Administrators can set this optional feature through the EdgeHistoryAISearchEnabled policy. Currently, the feature is only available in the beta version of Microsoft Edge.
This optional feature is reminiscent of Microsoft’s Recall function, which saves screenshots of your search behavior. This allows you to more easily search for websites, photos, and documents you have visited in the past. There were many questions raised about privacy with this, which is less the case with the improved search.
