Google introduces Workspace Studio, a new environment where users can build, manage, and share AI agents without code to automate work in Google Workspace.
Google announces Workspace Studio, allowing users to easily build, manage, and share AI agents without coding experience. Users can have AI agents execute workflows in Gmail, Drive, Sheets, and other Workspace apps. The agents handle more complex tasks than traditional rule-based automation and adapt based on new information.
Building AI agents
Users can describe what they want to automate in plain language. Commands like “every Friday, ping me to update my tracker” are converted by Gemini into a working agent. This can determine priorities, support approval flows, and generate content, among other things.
The agents are integrated with Gmail, Drive, and Sheets. They automatically pull context from documents, emails, and the web to better tailor responses and actions to individual users. Examples include drafting a weekly project update or providing an overview of tasks that require attention that day.
Workspace Studio also supports integrations with external tools. Companies can connect agents to platforms like Asana, Jira, Mailchimp, and Salesforce. External APIs can be called via webhooks, for example for push notifications to Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Discord.
Sharing and templates
Agents can be shared within a team or organization, similar to sharing a Google document. Colleagues can copy an agent and adapt it to their own use case. This allows organizations to scale automation more quickly.
Additionally, Google offers a library of templates for common scenarios. Think of a daily summary of unread emails, labeling emails with action items, or pre-meeting briefings in chat.
