Gemini can put appointments in your Google calendar

Google hooks Gemini up with more applications, including Calendar, Keep and Tasks. This allows Gemini to take notes for you, remind you of tasks and keep track of your calendar.

Google announces new Gemini integrations for Workspace users. Integrations with other Google applications greatly expand the capabilities of the AI assistant. Previously, Google hooked Gemini into Gmail and Drive, for example. Now Gemini will also be found in Calendar, Keep and Tasks.

Keeping a calendar

The integration works both ways. On the one hand, Gemini can extract information from those apps to answer your questions, but it can also take actions on its own based on your conversations. In Google Calendar, Gemini can search to see if you already have an appointment scheduled on a certain date, or add an appointment to your calendar. If you no longer feel like attending an event after all, Gemini can also remove it from your calendar for you.

If you use Google Tasks, Gemini will, among other things, remind you of tasks that are about to expire. The AI assistant carefully keeps track of your task list and will regularly update it as well. It does the same for your notes in the Keep app.

Giving permission

Google is currently rolling out these new Gemini integrations in full to Workspace accounts. Since September 2023, when it was still called Bard, Gemini has had access to various Google applications. You have to grant that permission manually, though. An occasional oddity may already cause Gemini to grant itself that permission, but that shouldn’t normally happen.
