The Dutch government wants to test the French Visio as an alternative to Zoom and Teams.
The Dutch government wants to initiate pilot tests that should safeguard the digital sovereignty of government services. During a consultation of the permanent committee for Digital Affairs in the House of Representatives, Visio was mentioned as an alternative for video conferencing.
With this, the country follows in the footsteps of France. The French government recently announced that by 2027 it wants to replace all external video conferencing tools with Visio, its own alternative to, for example, Zoom and Teams.
Visio in the Netherlands
France mandates the use of Visio to replace American tools such as Teams, Zoom, or Webex by 2027. This also gave the Netherlands ideas. During a recent consultation in the House of Representatives, the French alternative was discussed. The Dutch government indeed wants to get started with this.
“The tests are used to investigate and ensure that implementations comply with Dutch legislation and guidelines in areas such as cybersecurity and the Open Government Act,” said outgoing State Secretary Eddie van Marum.
