Apple Intelligence sets foot in Europe with beta version

Apple Intelligence sets foot in Europe with a beta version. The AI suite will be rolled out to European users in April 2025.

Apple appears to be keeping its word for now. Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI suite, was rolled out last year to all users except in Europe. The company backtracked on that a few months ago, promising that Apple Intelligence will still be available to European users by April 2025. Now the company announces that the AI suite will be accessible in multiple languages, including French, German and Italian, and available in almost all regions around the world.

Multiple languages

Apple announces that its AI suite will soon be available in multiple languages. The company is adding the following languages to the list: French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, as well as in localized English for Singapore and India.

These new languages will be accessible in almost all regions around the world starting with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4. Developers can get started testing these releases in advance.

Then in Europe anyway

When Apple announced its new AI suite last year, it was quickly apparent that we in Europe would be left hungry. Initially, Apple Intelligence was only available to macOS users in Europe. Then the company backtracked on that.

The reason Apple did not initially want to bring its AI suite to Europe has everything to do with the Digital Markets Act. This is because Apple has been designated as a gatekeeper and must comply with stricter regulations.
