Anthropic Claude Research

Anthropic’s Claude receives a new research tool and offers extensive integration with Google Workspace.

Anthropic expands Claude’s capabilities with a new research function and integration with Google Workspace. The updates are aimed at improving Claude as a digital assistant for professional use. The research function is currently not yet available in Europe, while the integration with Google Workspace is available in beta for all paying users worldwide.

Make decisions faster

The new ‘Research’ feature allows Claude to explore complex questions step by step and answer them with structured, substantiated information. Claude performs multiple internet searches and combines them with internal work context. Users receive comprehensive answers with verifiable citations. The function is intended to make tasks such as market research, technical analysis, or strategic preparation more efficient.

With the integration of Google Workspace, Claude can now also analyze Gmail, Calendar, and Google Documents. This means users don’t need to repeatedly provide context or upload documents. For example, Claude can automatically draft meeting minutes, analyze follow-up emails, and summarize relevant documents.

Such research tools are increasingly appearing in the AI landscape. OpenAI has already announced Deep Research, and Google also has a similar research function.

Contextual insights

Business teams can deploy the new functions in various ways. Marketing departments can create plans faster by combining competitive data and internal documents. Sales teams can prepare for customer conversations through automatic briefings. Technical teams can analyze design and integration documentation in combination with external sources. Students and families are also mentioned as examples of target groups that benefit from the new capabilities.

For organizations, there’s an additional function available: cataloging Google Documents. This allows Claude to create an index of company documents to retrieve information more quickly and precisely, without users having to select files themselves.

The research function is still in an early beta phase and is currently available in the United States, Brazil, and Japan for Max, Team, and Enterprise users. The integration with Google Workspace is available in beta for all paying users worldwide. Organization administrators can activate additional access through the settings.
