Windows 11 Now Supports Passkeys from 1Password and Bitwarden

Microsoft is now adding support for passkeys in 1Password and Bitwarden.

Microsoft is further expanding support for passkeys in Windows 11. Starting with the November 2025 update, users can now choose from multiple passkey managers, including third-party services like 1Password and Bitwarden. This functionality aims to make passwordless sign-ins more accessible and secure. Previously, this was only possible in Windows 11 with Microsoft Password Manager.

1Password and Bitwarden

Passkeys are intended as an alternative to traditional passwords. They are less susceptible to phishing and data breaches. Additionally, they simplify sign-ins through biometric verification, such as fingerprint or facial recognition via Windows Hello.

With the new plug-in support for passkey managers in Windows 11, users can manage their digital keys through their chosen application. Not only is Microsoft Password Manager available, but also third-party managers compatible with the new API, such as 1Password and Bitwarden.
