European cybersecurity specialist HarfangLab is launching Ashley and Kio. The complementary AI engines support security teams in detecting and analyzing threats.
HarfangLab introduces us to Ashley and Kio. These are not the company’s two newest employees, two AI engines designed to detect threats and support security teams. These new technologies strengthen endpoint security and provide solutions to the increasing complexity of cyber threats.
AI supports cybersecurity analysts
Ashley and Kio focus on specific tasks within cybersecurity. Ashley is a threat hunting engine that can identify unknown threats through advanced Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques. The engine operates independently of a central console and provides continuous protection even without connection to the network. Kio, based on generative AI, is a personal assistant for security analysts, supporting them in threat analysis, data filtering and documentation management.

Ashley analyzes binary files and scripts with modules such as Ashley Binaries and Ashley Scripts. These modules focus on executable files and Windows scripts, respectively, including hidden threats. The engine is regularly updated with new data from HarfangLab’s research teams to stay relevant in a dynamic threat landscape.
Kio, which apparently stands for Know it Owl, provides interactive assistance through a user-friendly interface. Analysts can use Kio Documentation for targeted information on the HarfangLab console and Kio Query to filter and analyze data sets. The AI was developed entirely in-house and runs on HarfangLab’s own servers, ensuring the confidentiality of client data.
A step forward in endpoint security
HarfangLab stresses that the introduction of these AI engines is a direct response to the challenges faced by cybersecurity professionals. According to CEO Grégoire Germain, the engines can reduce analysis times, detect hidden traces of cyber attacks and identify abnormal behavior before it leads to an incident.
Chief Product Officer Guillaume Ruty emphasizes that the strength of HarfangLab’s solution lies in its tight integration of AI methods such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning and generative AI. This provides an accurate and user-friendly security solution. HarfangLab continues to focus on further developing technologies that specifically address the needs of security teams.
