Toshiba sees insufficient demand for 24TB NAS hard drives in Europe and is only launching its N300 and N300 Pro models in America, Asia, and the United Kingdom for now.
Toshiba has no plans to introduce its 24TB NAS hard drives from the N300 and N300 Pro series to the European market. According to the company, there is currently insufficient demand for drives with that capacity. The announcement was confirmed in a statement to German ComputerBase.
Toshiba emphasizes to ComputerBase that it is closely monitoring the market situation and will regularly re-evaluate its decision. The hard drives are available in the United States, Asia, and the United Kingdom. Unlike Toshiba, competitors Seagate and Western Digital do offer 24TB and 26TB NAS drives on the European mainland.
Different Strategy for Different Regions
The 24TB variants of the N300 and N300 Pro models are currently the highest capacity NAS hard drives in Toshiba’s lineup. The manufacturer is already selling 24TB nearline MG11 drives in Europe, but these are intended for applications other than NAS.
Why Toshiba is not launching these specific NAS drives in Europe remains unclear. A possible explanation is that the company is aligning its inventory with important markets such as the United States. Toshiba may be trying to gain market share before new import tariffs take effect in July. No official communication has been made about such a strategy.
For European businesses or consumers looking for a 24TB NAS drive, only the offerings from competitors remain available for now.
