SAP introduces Business Data Cloud. The solution links SAP data to the Databricks platform, which unlocks the data and enables linkage to external data.
SAP is hanging its trolley on Databricks ‘ data platform with the introduction of the Business Data Cloud. The SAP Business Data Cloud provides a centralized environment that brings together data from various SAP systems and external sources. That environment is built on Databricks’ platform and will include the previously introduced SAP Datasphere.
The Business Data Cloud should help companies gain more efficient insights and better feed their AI models. The approach supports more detailed data analysis and machine learning.

SAP emphasizes that the solution meets the growing need for businesses to get more value from their data. “SAP Business Data Cloud unlocks the full value of enterprise data for Business AI,” said SAP CEO Christian Klein. Ali Ghodsi, CEO of Databricks, adds that the partnership helps companies effectively manage and analyze data, regardless of format or location.
The Business Data Cloid makes fully managed SAP data from SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba and SAP SuccessFactors, among others, available in a usable business context, without complex extraction processes.
Apps and AI
In addition, SAP is launching new insight apps, which link data products and AI models with real-time data to enable advanced analytics. Companies can use them, for example, to perform financial analyses that integrate external data, such as the consumer price index, directly with internal accounting data.

AI support through Joule, SAP’s generative AI copilot, is also enhanced by Business Data Cloud. Joule can now leverage structured data sets and the SAP Knowledge Graph to better respond to business issues. In addition, SAP is introducing an agent-builder feature, allowing customers to develop and deploy their own AI agents.
The collaboration between SAP and Databricks is important for both organizations. SAP customers are seeing the walls around the SAP ecosystem disappear. SAP implementations include a wealth of relevant data, which is now becoming more accessible in a modern yet secure way through Databricks’ technology.
