Google has announced the price of Veo 2, the AI video model unveiled in December.

According to official pricing information, using Veo 2 costs 50 cents per second, which amounts to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour. The AI model was announced in December.

Two minutes or more

By comparison, Google DeepMind researcher Jon Barron points out that the Marvel movie Avengers: Endgame had a production budget of $356 million, or about $32,000 per second. While Veo 2 will not generate three-hour Hollywood productions, this comparison underscores the economies of scale of AI-generated videos. Google emphasizes that Veo 2 can create clips of at least two minutes, making it especially attractive to content creators who need short videos.

OpenAI is also stepping into the AI video market with Sora, available to ChatGPT Pro users with a $200 per month subscription. AI video generation is thus becoming more and more accessible.

With Veo 2, Google is taking an important step into the AI content market. Compared to traditional video production, AI offers a fast and efficient way to create high-quality videos. For now, the tool is not yet available for use in Europe.
