AWS and Pure Storage team up to simplify Kubernetes environments

Pure Storage is partnering with AWS to integrate its solutions with those of the cloud giant. The focus is on Portworx.

The Portworx software platform is getting deeper integration with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, and Pure Storage is making a new data protection tool available to AWS customers. These are the first fruits of a three-year collaboration between Pure Storage and the hyperscaler. The goal is to simplify common customers’ Kubernetes environments.

Portworx

The focus for now is on Portworx. That software is capable of creating a storage pool that automatically scales with the needs of a given application. Moreover, the solution allows you to spread data across different data centers to avoid any downtime. Portworx became part of Pure Storage after acquiring a startup of the same name in 2020.

Users can more easily manage applications running on Amazon EKS through Portworx thanks to the collaboration. Portworx sits on top of EKS, providing data storage and protection. AWS customers will further gain access to Portworx PX-Backup: a tool that allows them to secure their applications’ data. That access takes the form of an early access program. Pure Cloud Block Store and Purity CloudSnap from Pure Storage are already available on AWS today.
