According to Gartner, half of all IT spending will be related to AI by 2027.
According to new market forecasts from Gartner, AI is growing into the dominant engine behind global IT investments, with a share that is moving towards 50 percent of total IT spending.
Less detail, same trend
Gartner has updated its AI predictions through 2027, and they show that investments in AI infrastructure, software, and services continue to rise rapidly. Growth will remain strong, especially in 2026 and 2027, but the pace is slowing compared to previous years.
According to Gartner, spending on AI infrastructure will nearly double in two years. Similar growth is expected for AI software, especially as AI functionality is increasingly integrated into existing platforms such as databases, middleware, and business applications. As a result, AI is shifting from a separate technology to a standard part of IT environments.
In 2025, AI already accounted for 31.7 percent of all IT spending. For 2026, Gartner expects an increase to 41.5 percent. Although there is no official expectation for 2027 yet, the trend indicates that AI could account for about half of all IT investments by then. Non-AI spending remains stable or declines slightly, making AI the main growth engine of the sector.
