Veeam opens its wallet for the AI company Securiti. With this acquisition, the company aims to combine data resilience with data security in one central solution.
Backup specialist Veeam announces in a press release its intention to acquire Securiti. Both companies have reached an agreement for an acquisition amount of 1.7 billion dollars. Regulators will need to give approval as usual to finalize the deal.
It would be the largest acquisition to date by Veeam. The company sees Securiti as an interesting addition to simplify the management of dispersed data. Securiti specializes in what it calls Data Security Posture Management.
Centralizing Data Management
Securiti specifically offers solutions for data privacy, governance, and access control in hybrid and multicloud environments. By integrating Securiti’s technology into its portfolio, Veeam enables customers to centrally manage, secure, and restore both production and backup data.

With this combination, organizations get a single control center to gain insight into their entire data environment. They can protect data from loss, quickly recover from incidents, and use reliable datasets for AI applications. According to Veeam, this leads to less complexity and better data control, which is essential for compliance and AI usage.
AI Demands Better Data Quality
The acquisition addresses the challenges companies face today. Approximately 70 to 90 percent of business data is unstructured, and many organizations fail to derive value from it. Meanwhile, the number of cyberattacks is increasing, and AI initiatives are often halted due to poor data quality or privacy concerns. 80 to 90 percent of AI projects fail, often due to issues with data accuracy, provenance, or access rights.
Securiti’s platform uses a knowledge graph and AI framework to automate data protection and governance. The platform also supports secure AI queries via the Gencore AI module. This technology will coexist with Veeam’s current solutions. New integrations will be announced soon.
Rehan Jalil, CEO of Securiti AI, will take on the role of head of security and AI within Veeam after the acquisition. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
