The Ghent-based cloud and hosting company team.blue strengthens its European e-commerce activities with the acquisition of Czech Shoptet.
The Belgian hosting and cloud group team.blue acquires Shoptet, an e-commerce platform from the Czech Republic that focuses on building and managing online stores.
Expansion in Central and Eastern Europe
Team.blue is one of the few companies in our country with a valuation of over a billion euros. It was formed in 2019 after a series of acquisitions from Combell. The group offers digital services to millions of SMEs such as website hosting and other e-commerce solutions.
With the acquisition of Shoptet, team.blue strengthens its position in the European e-commerce market and expands its presence in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in Prague in 2009, Shoptet provides cloud-based solutions that allow merchants to build their webshop, manage payments, integrate logistics, and deploy digital advertisements. The company has more than 300 employees and achieves an annual turnover of over 30 million euros.
Shoptet caters to both small merchants and larger companies. Through the Shoptet Premium platform, the company also offers solutions for larger customers in the enterprise segment.
Integration within Europe
Shoptet will be incorporated into the ecosystem of team.blue, which operates in 22 European countries and serves more than 3.3 million SMEs. Within this structure, Shoptet should be able to further realize its growth ambitions. team.blue aims to support existing product development at Shoptet while also exploring opportunities for collaboration within the group.
Shoptet will continue to operate under the current management. It’s remarkable how fast team.blue is growing: with the acquisition of Shoptet, the Ghent-based company completes its eighth acquisition of the year. The group is not only expanding in Europe, where it serves companies in 22 countries, but also acquired Extendify in the US this year.
