Proximus has signed a contract with the federal government. It may provide cybersecurity services to Federal Government agencies.
Proximus NXT has entered into a framework agreement to provide managed cybersecurity services to several Federal Government Departments (FPSs) and agencies. The contract, called Security-as-a-Service 2 (SECaaS2), has a seven-year term and an estimated value of more than 100 million euros.
Expansion of existing cooperation
Proximus NXT has been providing managed security services to the federal government for seven years through the ongoing SECaaS1 contract. This includes the security of institutions such as the FPS Finance, Justice, Mobility, Economy and the Ministry of Defense, representing a total of 70,000 end users. With SECaaS2, Proximus NXT will continue to support these institutions and expand the services.
The new contract introduces an enhanced and “cloud-first” security architecture. Proximus NXT is acting as prime contractor and working with several technology partners, including Microsoft, Palo Alto, Cisco, F5, 2Grips and Ceeyu. The new services help federal agencies with their compliance with NIS2 regulations and the Center for Cybersecurity Belgium’ s (CCB) CyberFundamentals Framework (CyFun).
Long-term cybersecurity strategy
The contract has an initial term of seven years and may be renewed twice for another year. This ensures long-term security continuity for federal institutions. In addition to the federal government, other public and private organizations can also use the security services within the SECaaS2 framework.
Proximus NXT was awarded the contract after a tender process in which it stood out for its managed security services offering, expertise in NIS2 compliance and a Belgium-based Security Operations Center.
