Cyber Command as fifth operational pillar
The Cyber Command is now a fully-fledged pillar within the Belgian Defense, alongside the Land, Air, and Naval Forces and the Medical Service. This entity protects military and strategic information systems and develops capabilities in the field of cyber defense and hybrid warfare.
Defense is working with Belgian companies that have experience in cybersecurity. Within this framework, Proximus NXT will support projects that fall under the PROTECT and DEFEND domains. The contract provides a mechanism per assignment to designate the most suitable partner.
Collaboration with Belgian partners
In this assignment, Proximus NXT is working with an ecosystem of partner organizations, including PwC Belgium. The solutions offered are based on technology from international players with whom Proximus NXT has existing relationships.
The collaboration with Defense follows previous contracts that Proximus NXT concluded with NATO and Belgian government institutions regarding IT and security services. Furthermore, the company is part of the Cyber Security Coalition and supports initiatives such as the Belgian Anti-Phishing Shield. It also organizes educational programs for young people about safe internet use.
With this agreement, Defense wants to better protect its strategic digital infrastructure against hybrid threats, and relies on a network of domestic partners with cyber expertise for this.
