DataCore Software acquires Arcastream to expand its storage portfolio to include high-performance file storage, strengthening support for demanding workloads and partnering with Dell.
DataCore Software is acquiring most of the assets of Arcastream. That is a specialist in high-performance file storage. With this, DataCore adds parallel file systems to its offerings.
Supplement
With the acquisition of Arcastream, DataCore expands its existing portfolio of block, object and container storage to include advanced file storage. Arcastream was previously part of Kalray and specializes in parallel file systems. This technology offers global namespace and high performance for semistructured and unstructured data. This is relevant to industries such as AI, high-performance computing (HPC), healthcare and media, according to DataCore.
DataCore’s existing solutions, such as SANsymphony for block storage and Swarm for object storage, gain an addition that increases flexibility within diverse infrastructures. DataCore’s software-defined approach ensures that the platform remains compatible with a wide variety of hardware configurations.
Partnering with Dell
Arcastream previously worked with Dell Technologies. That relationship will be continued and strengthened by the acquisition. This creates enhanced compatibility between DataCore’s software solutions and Dell’s hardware platforms. Joint customers will therefore have access to a wider range of storage solutions that can be deployed in the core, edge and cloud.
With this move, DataCore aims to expand its position within universal storage solutions. The company focuses on support for diverse workloads and infrastructure, while seeking to optimize the efficiency and performance of storage environments.
