Lenovo is introducing the new ThinkPad X9 series in 14- and 15-inch sizes at CES in Las Vegas. The series falls under the Aura Edition and gains more AI features.
In addition to the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, Lenovo also announced its new ThinkPad X9 14 and 15 Aura Edition series. This series features an integrated AI assistant, Intel Core Ultra processors and is specifically designed for hybrid workers. The Aura Edition points to some additional AI features on top of Lenovo AI Now.
ThinkPad X9
Lenovo expands its business range of laptops with the new ThinkPad X9 14 and 15 Aura Edition, designed for the hybrid user. This series belongs to the Copilot+ PC category and features Intel Core Ultra processors.
Lenovo’s ThinkPad X9 series has a new “engine hub” design. The X9 14 and X9 15 models feature Thunderbolt ports along both sides, where you can connect various peripherals such as dockings, monitors or other USB-C accessories. The series also features a high-capacity battery, HDMI 2.1 and Intel Wi-Fi 7.


For hybrid workers, a decent camera and microphone is crucial. The communication bar of the ThinkPad X9 series includes an 8 MP high definition MIPI camera and dual microphones with noise cancellation.
The Aura editions of the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 and ThinkPad X9 15 share many similarities. For example, they both feature Intel Core Ultra 7 processors (Series 2), have memory up to 32 GB and storage up to 2 TB. The refresh rate of both devices is 120 Hz. Unlike the 14-inch screen, the 15-inch screen model features a touchscreen.


The Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition and ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition will be available from February 2025, with an expected starting price of $1,399 and $1,549, respectively.
Lenovo AI Now
The Lenovo ThinkPad X9 series is armed with Lenovo AI Now, an AI assistant that integrates personalized AI tools on the device. The model is built on a local LLM based on Meta’s Llama 3.0. Lenovo aims to ensure user privacy by storing and processing all user data locally.

The AI assistant helps users streamline their workflows and work more efficiently. For example, the assistant will soon be able to retrieve information on different devices, such as on your AI PC and supported tablet, and help search for documents and summaries. Furthermore, Lenovo AI Now will offer multilingual support in German, Spanish and French.
On top of Lenovo AI Now, the Aura Edition offers some additional AI features. For example, this edition offers customized settings that allow users to easily switch between optimized device configurations with smart modes. Furthermore, Aura offers Smart Share, developed in collaboration with Intel, for faster transfer of media files. Finally, Lenovo offers an enhanced support service 24/7.
