HP Expands Its Range of Qualcomm PCs with the Omnibook 5. The 14-inch and 16-inch Models Offer Up to 34 Hours of Battery Life and Support Locally Running AI Tools.
Laptop manufacturer HP announces two new models in the Omnibook series. The Omnibook 5 is available in two versions: 14-inch or 16-inch. Both devices share the Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor and the Copilot+ label. HP claims that with these devices, they aim to bring AI functions to “mainstream” laptops, although they don’t disclose how mainstream the price will be.
AI and Battery
The Omnibook 5 14 and 16 are both ‘AI PCs’: a term that PC manufacturers are enthusiastically using today. Thanks to the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X (Plus) with its integrated 45 TOPS NPU, they can also be called ‘Copilot+ PCs’. The device has sufficient computing power to run AI applications locally.
Applications that effectively make use of this are still limited today. With the Omnibook 5, you can use Windows Recall or HP’s own AI assistant HP Companion, for example.

More than AI, Qualcomm laptops are known for their battery life. HP advertises a battery life of up to 34 hours for both the 14-inch and 16-inch versions. According to the manufacturer, this is the longest battery life for consumers. With HP Fast Charge, it’s possible to charge up to 50 percent within 30 minutes using a compact 65W adapter.
14-Inch or 16-Inch
The laptops feature a 2K OLED screen with high resolution and color reproduction. Here you can choose between a 14-inch or 16-inch screen. They support external displays up to 5K resolution and offer a 1080p FHD IR camera for video conferencing.
For sound quality, HP Audio Boost 2.0 is integrated, with dual speakers, separate amplifiers, and AI-driven noise cancellation. The design uses materials recycled from ocean waste and a lightweight aluminum casing.

Mainstream AI Laptop
The HP OmniBook 5 series with Snapdragon is expected to be released in July 2025. HP is confident that with the Omnibook 5, they have developed a “mainstream” AI laptop. Whether the price of the device will be suitable for a broad audience, we won’t know until the launch.
Within the Omnibook series, HP previously released the Omnibook X and the Omnibook Flip, aimed at the business market.
